Long-wave service: Now more than a million receivers installedSubsidiary is set up in RussiaSmart Metering: New communication optionsUsing long-wave for multi-functional energy saving systemsLaunch of Meteotime II weather stationLong-wave service exceeds total of 1,000,000 installed receivers
With a current total of 1,020,000 installed radio receivers, Europäische Funk-Rundsteuerung GmbH (EFR) has achieved significant growth in recent years. EFR is a system operator, and also offers a complete package, from consultancy, sale and installation of equipment right through to operational management. The signals from the transmitters at Mainflingen near Frankfurt, Burg near Magdeburg and Lakihegy near Budapest are received over a radius of 500 km. The increasing number of radio receivers installed shows clearly that the EFR radio ripple control system, with the benefits that it brings, is constantly advancing.

Establishment of a subsidiary in Russia
EFR GmbH of Munich has increased in size by added a new subsidiary: OOO EFR Russia, with its head office in St. Petersburg, is now part of the organisation. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EFR GmbH Munich and, together with the subsidiaries EFR Central Eastern Europe Kft in Budapest and EFR Polska Sp. z o.o. in Poznan, it helps to extend the company's activities in Eastern Europe.
Now projects can also be undertaken within the territory of the Russian Federation, which will enable the use of the radio ripple control system.
Smart Metering: New communication options
Reliable connection to the infrastructure is of prime importance for a successful Smart Metering application. A new energy-management solution links together for the first time long-wave radio and narrow-band power cable communication. The journal "Energiewirtschafltichen Tagesfragen" introduces the topic in a
article in Volume 3, 2009 (PDF, 1,3 MB - in German language).
Launch of Meteotime II weather station
EFR GmbH Munich has developed a new display in collaboration with HKW-Elektronik GmbH, that can show weather data. The information will be broadcast via EFR's long-wave transmitters for western and central Europe. Thanks to split-second transmission of the signals over a wide area, reception of data can be guaranteed at all times, without needing to switch on the radio or the TV.
