At the end of 2025, EFR GmbH successfully began equipping the entire grid of Niedersachsen Ports (NPorts) with smart metering systems. These consist of EFR’s own SLP meters, smart meter gateways, and control boxes. As a result, NPorts exceeded the Federal Network Agency’s targets for the rollout of smart metering systems for 2025.
The EFR MSB supply chain “EMELIE” was used for the first time for the delivery of the devices. The metering point operator commissions EFR to operate the MSB warehouse and benefits from the cost-effective, flexible, and secure solution.
Together with its partners exceeding solutions GmbH from Halle and Meterwise GmbH from Aachen, EFR was able to implement the project efficiently, reliably, and with excellent teamwork. Within a short period of time, EFR and its partners not only replaced the previously installed meters, but also planned and managed a complete system change at NPorts.
Particularly pleasing: NPorts is the first to use EFR’s new SaaS platform Grid Management and Metering Suite 2.0 (GM2S). The solution builds directly on the GWA certification successfully achieved in the fall and demonstrates how state-of-the-art processes, secure data flows, and user-friendly operability can be seamlessly combined.
Another significant step: GM2S complements EFR’s long-standing portfolio in the field of radio ripple control technology, which has been successful for over 30 years.
This enables efficient system coexistence and seamless integration of existing infrastructures with modern, digital solutions – a significant advantage for the migration and operation of complex network management systems.
The collaboration with NPorts underscores the importance of flexible, scalable, and economically viable solutions in the field of network operation and metering.
Smaller, local electricity network operators and operators of industrial sites also benefit from the modular system architecture and the integrated technology approach.
Together with its network of expertise, EFR supports other infrastructure operators on their journey toward a digital, secure, and efficient energy world.
