Two wins in one

Double success at the conclusion of the FNN qualification process and positive preparations for the random selection process under Section 35 of the MessEV

TMZ Thüringer Mess- und Zählerwesen Service GmbH and EFR GmbH are delighted to have successfully completed two qualification procedures in preparation for the sample inspection in accordance with Section 35 of the MessEV in conjunction with the GM-VA SPV.
Both the modern SGM-C2 and SGM-C4 metering systems have successfully met the requirements. This means that both meter types are eligible for a sample inspection extension of up to eight years.

At TMZ’s state-accredited testing centre, ETH 01, Sascha Koller, Division Manager and Head of the Testing Centre at TMZ, and Sebastian Gruner, Division Manager for Operations and Service, shared the good news with the EFR colleagues Enrico Wagner, Sales Team Leader, and Sebastian Ponzelar, Smart Meter Product Manager.

“During the final phase, it was possible to test not only the registered meter variants but also other device parameters, such as currents and accuracy classes. This gives metering point operators in Germany the assurance that their devices have also been successfully qualified and that, subject to a positive outcome in an upcoming spot check, they will receive the full eight-year extension to the calibration period,” said Koller.

“Modern metering systems are a key component of the energy transition and a vital driver of digitalisation. Every smart meter that is granted a doubled calibration period – and can therefore remain in the network for further eight years, which provides additional resources for continuous process optimisation and contributes significantly to increasing cost-effectiveness and, above all, acceptance amongst end consumers. This helps us with efficient roll-out planning,” added Gruner.

“Our long-standing partnership with TMZ is professional; they work very quickly and the processes run smoothly. The fact that both companies are based in Thuringia has a positive impact on our collaboration,” summarises Sebastian Ponzelar.

A strong result for quality, reliability and collaborative partnership in metrology.
